Just returned home with a skip in my step and a very joyful heart. Dr Avalini has changed the quality of my life by prescribing medication I had needed for a long time but was too embarrassed to mention. She takes time to explain and ensures I have no concerns. I can not praise Gilbert House team highly enough. The receptionists are very professional and approachable. Humour when visiting is a great tonic. Nothing appears too much trouble.

Previous years, I found the surgery to operate fairly well. The downfall was an incident in 2015 and another in 2017 - both concerning, initially, the first GP I saw Dr. A. Regarding the incident in 2017, I was misdiagnosed 3 times, all following the first misdiagnosis by the first GP Dr A. Not a small matter, but a potentially life threatening one. Only through the diligence of a doctor (Dr W) at Linden House (4th time) performing small surgery and sending off a sample to be analysed, it was discovered I had a cancerous melanoma. If I had left it, as I had been told 3 times there was nothing to worry about, it probably would have gone to stage 3 or 4 with a 50% chance of the cancer coming back. My suggestion on improvement is the practice needs to be educated in melanomas as early referral is paramount.

I find the reception staff very rude and unhelpful at this surgery. I had a late appointment and it was obvious that the main agenda was to lock up and go home rather than assist the 3 patients still left with an appointment. There was no one on reception when I arrived, the automatic patient arrival system in the foyer was switched off and the only time i saw someone was when one of the receptionists came out to lock the rest of the place up whilst we were all still sitting there for our appointments. When I came out of my appointment with a blood test request form that I was told to book in straight away, I was told by the receptionist that she had switched everything off and I would have to call tomorrow?! Personally I think this surgery is stuck in the dark ages with staff that have worked there all their lives who seem resentful to do their job. Not a good experience - again.
